We have started to look at the exciting topic of Myths and Legends, focusing on the life of the Greeks! Class 7 and 8 returned with some exciting research projects, showing everything they found out about the Ancient Greeks over their Easter holidays. This week we have investigated life in ancient Greece, the location of Greece and have began to look at myths and legends! Ask us what the difference is!
Below are some photos of our role plays of Greek myths.
This week in Year 3 .. (Week beginning 22nd January 2018)
This week we have made a start on our exciting sarcophagus-making project.
We began by making the shape of a pharaoh for the top of our sarcophagus.
We then covered our shoe boxes with tissue and stuck it down with PVA glue. This will make our sarcophagi stronger.
We painted our sarcophagus in a yellow/gold colour to make it look like a realistic ancient Egyptian sarcophagus.
This week in Year 3 (Week beginning 15th January)
This week in PSHE, we have worked incredibly well in teams to create whole puzzle images. We each had a small part of a bigger picture and we had to work in a team to find other people who also had part of our picture. We then put the puzzles together successfully. Mrs Uddin was VERY impressed with our teamwork skills.
This week in Year 3 .. (Week beginning 8th January)
This week we have explored using money in maths.
We added different amounts of money. We also used our subtraction skills to work out how much change we would get from an amount.
This week in Year 3 .. ( Week beginning 27th November)
This week we have been making predictions on what we think will happen next in 'Fantastic Mr Fox'. We made our predictions in 3 freeze-frames ensuring that we used expression in our faces as well as appropriate body postures.
This week in Year 3 (Week beginning 20/11/2017)
We went on a local walk around Wednesbury. We were really excited to see how humans have influenced the landscape of Wednesbury.
This week in Year 3.. (Week beginning 13/11/17)
We did a drama performance in groups. We acted out a scene from Fantastic Mr Fox where Mr Fox had his tail shot off by one of the nasty farmers. We used a lot of expression and emotion in our performance.
This week in Year 3.... (10/11/2017)
This week in Year 3 we have been looking at how best to catch the 'pest' that is loose in the school. From the information we were given in a letter from Mrs Chapman we believe it may be a fox or a badger. We have been writing instructions to help someone build a trap and building exciting traps ourselves! In Maths we have been working on Multiplication and Division. We have been using arrays to help us multiply, looking at methods to help with mental multiplication and (of course) practicing our timestables lots; especially our 3, 4 and 8's!
In STEM we looked at the role of a skeleton, labelled different bones and even made our very own paper skeleton.
This week in Year 3... (3/11/2017)
After a lovely half term break, we have been looking at our new topic 'Trapped!' Children have been writing a letter to Mrs Chapman about a pest that has been loose in the school and causing problems. They are planning to design and build a humane trap to catch it.
In Maths we have been working on Measure (picture below). Children have been measuring accurately using rulers to find the length of items in cm and mm. They have also been finding the perimeter of 2D shapes; such as rectangles, triangles and squares. This weeks homework focuses on measuring accurately.
This weeks STEM lesson (picture below) is focused around the questions Do all living things need the same amount of food? Children are looking at food packaging labels, what nutrients are found within food and what nutrients animals need to survive.
These are the days we have PE:
Class 7: Outdoor Tuesday, Indoor Thursday.
Class 8: Outdoor Tuesday, Indoor Wednesday.
Year 3 Harvest Assembly!
We are very excited in Year 3 about our Harvest Assembly taking place on Tuesday 17th October. Attached below are important things we may like to practice at home to help with our performance.
